am I truly awake or am I still dreaming?
I came across this book the other day and can't wait to add it to my collection. Thought I would share.

On Mobility, Flexibility and Convenience

Enter mobile blogging. Finally, I have activated this lovely feature of my blogger account. I am particularly pleased with this endeavor since my trusty computer is boxed up in storage hundreds of miles away due to its inability to fit into said tiny car. After moving from New York, I decided an iMac may be a better investment than my iBook, so I made the switch. Now may be the time to revert since flexible use of space is so valuable once again. Until then, my smartphone may be the only utility I have; while it is not a top notch photo editor, layout capable, or anywhere near capable of 60wpm or T1-style connections and downloads, it will hold me over for a couple of weeks. I feel vaguely like Alice in Wonderland.

versatility
I was recently inspired to discuss versatility. Ordinarily, I believe that one should be very good at one area or even just a sub category of said one area. I believe it brings you closer to your audience by having a niche and if you spend your time developing specifically, you become exponentially better practiced than if you were to spend your time developing in 5 different areas. Plus there is obvious evidence of focus in your work.
I am the kind that has so many ideas and wants to do so many things that I simply cannot focus on just one. But there is some hope... the Louis Vuitton Fall 2011 collection had me in awe of the amazing designs so varied in style. Not that Louis Vuitton needs to be versatile considering the height of the pedestal -or maybe that's why the pedestal is as high as it is. I'm convinced the reason this complex collection works is because of the array in terms of diverse garment designs and how they are sequentially organized to complement each other. In the end, all of these pieces fit together seamlessly, though if you plucked a couple from the bunch at random, you may -depending on the pieces in question- be left thinking, "Ah mon dieu."
Yes, I suppose it is possible to be completely marvelous at a variety of topics, but we should keep in mind that the presentation is everything.

personal projects : windows
I thought I would share a few of my recent photographs. These scenes particularly appealed to me with their vintage subject matter and film concept. As fascinating -and as instantly gratifying- as digital photography and photo illustration can be, I personally prefer the old school look, feel, and process of traditional photography. The mannequin series is one that I have been working on for over a decade and I do not believe I ever care to stop. There is always a unique and interesting concept behind the displays. So much goes into these productions, including expertise from many different kinds of people, that you can't help but stop and ponder the store's message and interpretation of popular culture. No two brands have identical storefronts and each has an individual perspective and reflection on current trends and contemporary ideologies. A never-ending cycle of visual stimulation to inspire personalized projections of what it means to live today.

fashion frenzy
Spent some time in New York this week, absorbing all of the beautiful clothes and bags and jewelry -and my favorite- shop window displays. Had a wonderful wonderful time, but you can only see so much in a visit and this is something I probably never would have come across. Beautiful behind the scenes photographs of Jason Wu. Love.
